Honor Cord Program

Honor Cord photoOklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) wants to encourage and honor you for making blood donation a priority. There is no substitute for blood, so developing the habit of donating blood is important. OBI relies on volunteers to maintain an ample blood supply for our hospitals. Without volunteer blood donors, like you, our hospitals would not have the blood they need for surgeries, cancer and burn patients.

How does the program benefit me?

  • Students are able to develop leadership, project management, goal-setting and teamwork skills – all important credentials for your future resume.
  • Students build character by helping others.
  • It’s an opportunity to personally save a life within your community.

How do I get involved?

Fill out the enrollment form after your first donation. This one-time enrollment in the Honor Cord Program makes you a part of the life-saving program. If you have already submitted a paper enrollment form, you are already enrolled in the program and do not need to submit the online enrollment form. Students must be enrolled by February 1 of graduating year.

When you meet this criteria, you will receive a certificate & an honor cord to wear on your graduation robe.*
