Diabetes Testing

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is currently providing hemoglobin A1c testing for its blood donors as a test for diabetes. Managing this complicated disease depends first on knowing you have it, and OBI is determined to help identify Oklahomans who have diabetes or are at risk of developing diabetes. Phase 1 of this program offers selective testing of high school blood donors, with planned expansion to other high risk groups to follow. This fund will provide the money to add this screening to the battery of tests the Oklahoma Blood Institute currently runs on every blood donor.
