Valuable Health Information
Thanks to funding of screening for key health concerns, our donors receive valuable health information. With each donation, blood pressure, body temperature and cholesterol are monitored. Male donors can also pay a nominal fee for a PSA (prostate specific antigen) test recommended annually for men 50 or older. It can provide helpful information in detection of prostate cancer.
Donors receive a written report of all these findings to discuss with their physicians. Lifestyle and medication changes may need to be made to improve these vital signs. Our website also graphs trends trends in these health indicators so donors can see improvement or signal additional health care may be needed over time.
Support the overall quality of community health by contributing to Oklahoma Blood Institute. These tests performed for every donor can provide personal health revelations for those whose intention was purely to help others by donating blood.
